How Thrift Shopping Saved Me ₹5000 This Semester
A second-year engineering student shares how strategic thrifting helped fund their study abroad trip.

As a second-year engineering student at NMIMS, I never thought I'd be able to afford a study abroad trip. But through strategic thrifting on Campus Thrift, I saved enough to make it happen. Here's my story.
The Problem
Study abroad programs cost a fortune. Flights, accommodation, program fees - everything adds up quickly. I needed ₹50,000 for a 3-month exchange program, but only had ₹15,000 saved.
The Solution: Campus Thrift
I started buying clothes, accessories, and dorm essentials on Campus Thrift. Not only did I get great quality items at 70-80% off retail prices, but I also started selling items I no longer needed.
My Strategy
- Buy winter clothes in summer for next season
- Sell summer clothes in winter when demand is high
- Focus on brand names that hold value
- Use the Re-Thrift feature for items that didn't fit
The Results
In 6 months, I saved ₹5000 on purchases and earned ₹3000 from sales. More importantly, I learned the value of conscious consumption and built a sustainable wardrobe.
Thrifting isn't just about saving money - it's about making conscious choices that benefit both your wallet and the planet.
